The Laurie Baker Centre for Habitat Studies (LBC), Trivandrum is pleased to announce the Laurie Baker Fellowship Programme for the year 2019-20. The programme is intended to attract young architects/civil engineers/ urban planners/social science researchers who are interested in working in the area of green habitat studies. The studies may include a) documentation of the architectural plans and building sites authored by Laurie Baker and his team with a view to understand its cost effectiveness and environmental sustainability, b) socio-economic and techno-ecological studies on housing schemes/habitats pioneered by Laurie Baker, c) new areas that will contribute to advancing the conce p t of green habitat and d) studies that contribute to an understanding of the socio-economic dynamics of housing conditions in India and/or specific states.
Prospectivecandidatesareexpectedtosubmitatwo-pageproposalrelatingtoatopicbelongingto any of the above-mentioned areas. The candidates are free to finalise the topic for work on the basis of their interaction and guidance from the LBC faculty. LBC will have the freedom to suggest an area for work that will contribute to its teaching and/or dissemination of the idea and practice of green habitat through its sister organization, COSTFORD.
The minimum qualification will be B Arch, B Tech or equivalent for technical subjects and a Masters or its equivalent in social sciences. Preference will be given to those with prior experience in completing a written project and/or work with an organization in the area of green habitat. Persons with demonstratedcapabilitiesmaybe givenexemptionfromhavingformalqualifications. Theperiod of the fellowship would vary from 6 to 12 months, depending on the nature and intensity of the project proposed.ThefellowshipwillcarryamonthlyremunerationbetweenRs.15,000/-toRs.20,000/- subject to qualifications and experience.
