Ar. Alok Kothari received his Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pune University’s Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Architecture in 2010. While pursuing his bachelor’s, he interned with Mozaic Design Combine, Goa (Ar. Dean D’Cruz) for a period of six months. Alok has worked with a notable architectural practice – Design Edge, Pune – for a period of two years (2010 – 2012).
He received his Master’s in Housing & Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA), London in 2013. After his master’s, he gained further experience by working on urban level projects & in May 2015, Alok formally established his own design practice – Alok Kothari Architects.
Alok has won the FIRST prize at the national level in ‘Urban revitalization of Mass Housing’ International Competition organized by the UN-Habitat in 2014 & has won the THIRD prize in the competition ‘Design – Tradition, Modernity and Identity’ organized by the Journal of Landscape Architecture, India in 2009.
Along with his design practice, Alok has also devoted time to teaching at a couple of architectural colleges – PVP College of Architecture, Pune & Sinhagad College of Architecture, Pune. He truly believes in the importance of academic discourse & research within the larger framework of professional practice.
