Architecture has always played a key role in exhibitions. Museums, exhibitions, and expositions are not only a cultural offer but are defined by space, by an exhibition itinerary that is able to surprise and fascinate the visitor who is drawn inside an active and inspiring experience.
For an exhibition, architecture is as fundamental as works of art, collections, and artifacts and their contents.
The “Architecture for Exhibition” course has been created on these premises: its aim is to train professional designers who are able to materialize diverse artistic and museum experiences, enhancing the always-different story behind each cultural proposal.
The students will acquire new skills in exhibition design and will move to a very prestigious environment – culture – which nowadays registers an increasing demand by the most critical and exclusive customers.
The students will focus on preservation practices, lighting techniques, and perception psychology to deepen their knowledge on technical practices to adopt in exhibition design.
The course will be made up of 84 hours of lessons, a 32-hour workshop, and multiple lectures by well-renowned professional architects.
At the end of the course, the YACademy Placement office will guarantee each student a proposal for an internship/collaboration within the partner studios.
PROJECT OF RECONFIGURABLE EXHIBITION SETTINGS FOR FONDAZIONE PRADA
Angelo Micheli | AMDL CIRCLE
Fondazione Prada is a cultural institution created in 1993 by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, in 2015 it inaugurated the new permanent headquarters in Milan, designed by OMA, an architectural firm lead by Rem Koolhaas, in an old distillery of the first decades of the twentieth century. The result of this architectural reconfiguration is a campus of post-industrial spaces of recent construction. These multi-form spaces hosted a wide cultural program, essentially focused on contemporary art, but open to other languages and disciplines. In 2016, Fondazione Prada’s Osservatorio was opened, a space dedicated to photography, located in the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery in Milan. From 2011, another permanent space was opened in Venice inside the eighteenth-century Queen’s Palace of Ca’ Corner. From 1993 the activities of Fondazione include monographic commitments developed by international artists, conferences of contemporary philosophy, research exhibitions,s and initiatives related to cinema and architecture. With the opening of the new headquarters in Milan, in 2015, the experimental vocation of Fondazione Prada and the constant research for new correlations between different languages have been strengthened. Research that realizes itself in historical exhibitions, designs in collaboration with artists, large retrospective, performative art projects, film festivals, and activities that have explored creative exchanges among visual arts, cinema, media production, technology, and science.
At the end of the course, the YACademy Placement office will guarantee each student a proposal for an internship/collaboration with some of the studios better matching the topic of the course, with the likes of:
