Excerpt: Bodega y Oficinas Black Warehouse is an architectural Project designed by Inaprensible in Ecuador. The main objective of the project is to give priority to the metallic structure using the pre-existing heights and axes for the correct operation of the offices.

Project Description

(“Text as submitted by architect”)

The project is based on rehabilitating a pre-existing metallic structure for a company called Proparts. It is proposed to recycle the structure and demolish specific metal elements to regularize the areas and locate the new offices on the second floor of the building. A fundamental change was the redesign of the vertical circulation. The pre-existing black metal structure dictated the chromatic conception of the design.

The main objective of the project is to give priority to the metallic structure using the pre-existing heights and axes for the correct operation of the offices and warehouse, taking into account in the future a possible construction of a third level.

The integral metal solution is left exposed on the inside, while on the outside a tempered glass enclosure and metal slats are combined, which offer a solution to solar incidence, providing comfort in work areas.

On the upper floor, the pre-existing structure is used to regularize the office positions by designing work modules that are reflected in the main facade. Each space between metal slats corresponds to a workstation. The meeting room on the upper floor fulfills several functions: as an entertainment place, a photography workshop for various products and for business meetings, for this reason it includes mobile metal panels that allow the control of the entry of light depending on the use and panels glass towards the interior, giving the place a perception of hybrid space.
