Project Description

[Text as submitted by the Architects] Thao Dien Townhouse project is built in District 2 _ HCM City. The house Serves two husbands and a wife, a 4-year-old son and an elderly grandmother.

The owner currently lives in an apartment, but because the apartment space does not meet the comfortable living of a family of 3 generations, the mischievous son likes to run and jump. The grandmother is old and difficult. Commuting, and the story of the grandmother and the shippers delivering groceries to the market and buying food, it is tough to get in and out of the apartment to receive the goods. The couple needs much private space to relax and work.

So, the owner decided to sell the apartment to buy land and build a house, create more indoor activity space for the little ones, and make it easier for the grandmother to live alone at home. And husband and wife have much private space.

For her convenience to live without moving the stairs, we arranged for her bedroom to be located on the ground floor, and the usual worship we bring to the top is the terrace, for our grandmother’s convenience. I arranged it next to the bedroom, still dignified and cosy, avoiding taboos. There was a space for potted plants on the upper floor of the worship room.

Knowing that she often relaxes and works only in the kitchen space, so she will focus on creating a beautiful kitchen space. Although the townhouse has a narrow space, it is still a priority to place the bar kitchen in the centre of the house and arrange a spacious area.

Above the kitchen, a large skylight is cut to create ventilation, bringing sunlight down to the kitchen surface. Always dry. And through the floor hole from the kitchen can connect to the upper floors to make a connection between generations, and the dining space combines a TV and a sofa to relax as a diverse living space and excitement.

One-way stairs and a long corridor are opened to a skylight to create a climbing space for the little boy, sacrificing the area to develop courtyards for children to play anywhere in the house.

The bedrooms with exposed walls outside and exposed walls inside the skylight are made of walls and glass doors to maximize light and wind. Make the house light and relaxing.

With the façade, instead of attaching the balcony to the longest possible to take advantage of the area, we do the opposite. The block slowly moves back to each floor to make the house open and airy. Increase the area to get light for the bedroom, combined with the fake wood-plastic system to create the house’s luxury. The house was built at the cost of 2 billion 8: reinforced concrete, brick, iron, and industrial wood with sustainable materials.
