Carlos Zwick

Born on October 19, 1951 in Sonthofen / Allgäu, 6 children, living in Berlin since 1979

1951    Born in Sonthofen / Allgäu as the second of five children

1968    Secondary school leaving certificate at Sonthofen secondary school

1968-1971       Carpenter apprenticeship in Sonthofen, journeyman’s examination (Chamber Winner)

1971-1972       High school diploma

1972-1973       Practical work as a carpenter

1973-1974       Trip to North and Central Africa

1974-1978       Architecture studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich (diploma)

1978-1979       two further trips through North, East and Central Africa

1979-1983       Degree in architecture and urban development from the TU Berlin

1979-1983       In parallel to my studies, acquisition and renovation of a factory building at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 32 in Berlin-Kreuzberg with 13 other shareholders and the creation of a new attic on the garden house

1983-1986       Freelance worker in the architecture firm Feddersen, xHerder & Partner

1986 – 1988     Self-construction of a wooden house in the Allgäu in cooperation with the brother

1988-1993       Research assistant at the TU Berlin at the chair of Prof. L. Kandel, Department 8 / Institute for Housing, Cost- and Space-Saving Building,

courses for the lower level in design theory and building construction

1989    Founding of the Carlos Zwick architecture office

Practice Ideology

Carlos Zwick Architects is a Berlin architecture firm that was founded in 1989.

An international team of architects, engineers and designers works under the direction of Carlos Zwick, who has successfully implemented numerous projects for more than 30 years.

Carlos Zwick studied architecture after completing his carpenter apprenticeship at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. In Berlin he completed a degree in urban development. From 1986 to 1991 he taught design and building construction at the Technical University of Berlin at the chair “Cost and Space Saving Building”.

Clients are accompanied competently and reliably in all phases of the construction project, with the team specializing primarily in residential projects, both in renovation and new construction. The highest quality standards are guaranteed from competitions to construction management and property management.
