Project Description

(Text as submitted by the Architect)

Carrizal is located at the south of Mexico City. The project was to be developed as a set of eight private houses set in the same property. The location is a residential area; the irregular lot is adjoined in two of its sides—in the Norwest and the southeast, which allows for two different accesses: one in Carrizal Street and the other one in Pino Street. The unevenness of the lot also allows the access to the parking space of six different houses from the Pino Street, and to the common access of pedestrians and vehicles to houses 1 and 2 from Carrizal Street.

The master plan included the access to all of the houses by way of a main axis, which was in the longest side of the lot and would be divided in half. The placing of trees that were already there was crucial to the division of the plot in symmetrical parts. The house’s program includes a ground floor, in which the public functions are accommodated, that has a view to the two outside yards for each individual lot; furthermore, the last floor has a terrace.
