Ar.Advait Potnis

Advait graduated in architecture from Mumbai University in 2000, He worked with Serie Architects, Mumbai, for five years. During this time, he got several opportunities to be involved in various award-winning projects. Post this, he moved to IAAC, Barcelona, in 2007 to pursue Masters in Advanced Architecture. He completed his masters a year later with a thesis that got shortlisted for Beijing Biennale. A firm believer in sustainability in design, Advait co-helms DIG Architects with his partner Amit Khanolkar, and his work includes original and innovative examples of different building types. Academia is another area of interest for Advait; he has been a visiting design faculty at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture for the past 10 years.

Ar.Amit Khanolkar

Amit received his degree in architecture from L.S. Raheja School of Architecture in 2000. Almost immediately, he established an independent practice, Astitva Architects, a year later. Under Amit’s able leadership, the design firm conceived and executed several interiors and architectural projects in Mumbai and other Indian cities. Many of Amit’s completed works have been featured in reputed design magazines. He has also been awarded the IAD award for ‘Best Residential Designer of 2009’. Currently, Amit explores new languages of design and integrates them with real spaces at DIG Architects, a design studio he co-founded with partner Advait Potnis.

Practice Ideology

DIG Architects is a multi-disciplinary studio established in 2009. Based in Mumbai, the practice has conceived and executed various projects in the field of architecture and interior design.

The primary objective of the practice is to create designs that resonate with the spirit of place and time. As opposed to limiting to a singular design language, the practice likes to ideate with various conceptual frameworks leading to diverse bespoke designs.

The practice has extensive experience in the field of architecture and interiors and has won multiple awards and recognition for its unique design approach. DIG Architects are also involved in the field of research and education which is an integral part of the design process. The open-ended nature of the practice provides a platform for collaborators with varied skill-sets to engage with a particular project or project at different scales. This contributes to an overall finesse — which the firm continuously strives for in terms of detailing its projects.
