Heather Dubbeldam
Heather Dubbeldam is the principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design, a multi-disciplinary studio in Toronto with a diverse portfolio including workspaces, hospitality, residential, adaptive reuse and mixed use projects, and landscape design. Heather has been recognized as a leading advocate for sustainable design and the betterment of our built environment in Canada and as such, she divides her time between creating built work and engagement with broader architectural and social agendas. This is manifest through the studio’s applied research; their multidisciplinary approach to projects; engagement in exhibitions, installations and public lectures; and through Heather’s leadership roles in advocacy and mentoring. Heather is a LEED-accredited professional, a past Chair of the Toronto Society of Architects, Director of Twenty + Change (a national organization dedicated to exposing the work of emerging Canadian architects), Vice Chair of BEAT (Building Equality in Architecture Toronto), and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC).

The studio’s portfolio includes a diverse range of projects in many sectors including commercial, institutional, hospitality, mixed-use and residential, as well as landscape design, product design, and architectural installations.
Along with over 50 design awards and wide recognition in national and international publications, Dubbeldam is the recipient of the Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture, one of the oldest and most prestigious prizes for outstanding achievement in Canadian architecture. With a commitment to design excellence and a focus on sustainability and wellness in architecture, Dubbeldam is recognized for creating innovative, unique and environmentally responsible design solutions for live, work and play.
