Kurula Varkey Design Forum 2024 | Design Forum

  • Event type: Forum
  • Start date: 02/08/2024
  • End date: 04/08/2024
  • Event website: www.kvdforum.in

Founded in the memory of Professor Kurula Varkey, a former Director of the School of Architecture and a prominent figure in the institution’s pedagogical reforms, the forum brings together students from various architectural schools, academicians and practitioners from around the world.

The forum is a dialogue to understand the diverse directions emerging in the discipline of architecture through discussions that are organized around selected final-year student projects across South Asia.

This year, the Forum will investigate innovation in the built environment and the technologies that enable them. The forum also intends to address how architects have responded to the impact of technological developments on human habitats through innovations in space-making.

Students who have finished their final year (design thesis) between April 2023 and July 2024 are invited to send their projects for the Forum this year.

A total of 30 student projects will be selected whose work will be displayed in the Forum Exhibition. Twelve students will be further selected to be a part of the Forum as a panelist and their projects will be used as take-off points for discussions during the sessions of the Forum. The panel for discussion will comprise eminent academicians and practitioners, as well as student panelists whose projects have been selected.
