About Competition

Those that are battling a terminal illness may not always be able to access the type of support they need, whether that’s a professional to talk to, or – a place where they can escape to relax and recuperate. Hospice – Home for the Terminally Ill architecture competition is calling for submissions for a conceptual care home that could provide comfort and support to terminally ill patients.

This competition is a chance for participants to show the impact of architecture on mental well-being, as they are tasked with designing a day-care facility that terminally ill patients could visit. Can architecture be used to help people and vulnerable communities? Could good design change the way people think about their illness and offer a more positive experience as they approach the end of their lives?
