About competition
The International VELUX Award for students of architecture is open for registrations for the 2020 award. Until the 1st of April 2020, students can sign up for the biggest global competition of its kind. The International VELUX Award challenges students from all over the world to explore the role of daylight in architecture and inspire new thinking by considering the role of daylight as an ever-relevant source of light, energy, wellbeing and joy. This year marks the 9th edition of the competition, which has been running every second year since 2004.
Prize
Winners of the award get an invitation to present their project at the World Architecture Festival 2020 and receive a prize of up to €5,000.
Requirements
To participate, you need to be enrolled at a school of architecture, register your participation here and submit your daylight project by 15 June 2020. The competition is completely free. Every student project needs to be backed by a tutor and both the winning students and their tutors are recognised and win prizes.

More about the competition
The Award is organised in close collaboration with the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the World Architecture Festival (WAF) and is acknowledged by the following educational organisations; The European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE), The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), the Architectural Research Centers Consortium (ARCC), and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA).
