About Competition

Are we Styling or are we designing?

How are flows of information and capital changing the design process?

Can the design process break away from being a slave to the template?

How linear is a design process?

The forum intends to compare processes across Architecture schools and practitioners seeking to generate a discussion on the underlying principles of processes. Through a set of final year projects, we will examine the emphasis on decisions within the series of choices in the process. Launching ourselves into this endeavour, we unpack design methods, sequences and tools, inquiring the possible trajectories and their implications. We invite you to come join this exploration as students to investigate processes of learning.

About the Organizer

Initiated by the students of CEPT University in 2001, the Kurula Varkey Design Forum has since then become a platform for critical discourse in architecture and architectural education. The forum is not a jury or a competition, but a dialogic event to understand and identify the diverse directions emerging in the discipline of Architecture through student projects as take off points.

This event has been honored by great personalities like B.V.Doshi, Lucien Kroll, Juhani Pallasma, Anant D. Raje, Peter Rich, William Curtis, Channa Daswatte, Charles Correa, Emre Arolat, Tatiana Bilbao, Yui Tezuka and many more

KVDF 2022 manifests itself as an inquiry to deconstruct our practice as students of design.
