Practice Ideology

Her professional practice has been focused on making use of architecture and urbanism as a main tool for improving vulnerable communities’ quality of life, within different Global South urban and rural contexts.

Considering all the above mentioned, her projects:

  • Retribute social debt generated through years in territories inhabited by marginalized communities.
  • Seeks to understand territories not only from its unique spatial characteristics but also from its cultural meaning and symbolic value.
  • Comprehend built and natural environment, considering social-spatial relationships established by the community with it.
  • Engage inhabitants in the decision-making process, laying the foundations for co-responsibility and sustainability.
  • Work on the principle of human development, overcoming traditional perspectives mainly focused on external economic agents’ enrichment.
  • Conceive human beings as an integral part of the nature, recognizing that their recreative and economic activities rely on the provision of a set of ecosystem services.
  • Exploit territory advantages for the benefit of their local population, avoiding gentrification and marginalization processes.

Use collective construction methodologies between communities, politicians, and technicians, within a horizontal framework.
