Project Description
[Text as submitted by architect] A plot of 12×30 with an irregular land surface (counter-dependent to the street) has the soil of little mechanical resistance. The context being a developing neighbourhood, security was a significant condition.
A solution could be proposed by graphing the reality, assuming it as a limitation, and understanding that all those issues that make this opportunity unique must be respected and accompanied. We can only order them functionally.
But we assume a different role, and we draw not only what exists (reality), but we also force ourselves to raise the reality we need, the one we don’t have but urgently yearn for. That reality that we do not know seduces us but, at the same time, does not offer any certainty.
Consequently, we would produce knowledge based on experience. To the purest saying of the renowned Ernesto Sabato, when he writes, “A creation is one that is something perfectly known finds unknown, new aspects”. Take familiar issues and raise something new—topography, resources, needs, economy, materiality and pre-assumptions.
In this first half (footfall-wise), the block that shelters the family is built. Using the topography as an excuse, the private sphere is located in seminivel. On it, the public room and the kitchen dominate the landscape. In a second moment, the same block will appear, but in front, but only as a cover, constituting the gallery, garages and the grill.
This new structure contains on it the pool. A system of routes orders the flows and allows to conquer the house in all its development. An internal courtyard generates the necessary lighting and ventilation.
The structure is named and arranged, and the blindsides are treated with a rough envelope in broken standard brick, which provides identity in addition to thermally conditioning the interiors.
