Megurohoncho House is a residence renovated by the architectural firm ROOVICE. The first thing to do was focus on reinforcing the existing wooden structure by starting the whole layout of pillars and walls in the lower level anew.

Glassalon Neuhaus is a pavilion designed by the architectural firm Baukooperative. The old stock and the building site are surrounded by two parks embedded in green space. The goal: Don’t turn your back on any park or erect a barrier. One more reason to opt out of massive traditional construction. The firm wanted to create homogeneity with the environment. They took a different approach and constructed the new building at a 90-degree angle to the old building. This enabled them to create an intimate atmosphere in the park and strengthen the authenticity of the old building.

Anna Garden | KiKi ARCHi

Anna Garden is a residence designed by the architectural firm KiKi ARCHi. KiKi ARCHi decided to first re-establish the relationship between the house and the landform, which includes multiple dimensions such as the relationship between ‘terrain and building,’ ‘architectural appearance, and the surrounding environment, ‘function and the living experience.’ Thus, the 8m height difference of the site was fully utilized. The garden at the lower level was linked with the house at the higher level through the graceful landscape design, which creates a rich visual hierarchy and sets the tone of ‘freedom & nature’ for the whole project.

The lyric and logic of KiKi ARCHi’s creation combine external perceptual experience with its knowledge system, internalizes it into a harmonious but different humanistic idea, and then extends to the virtual and real dimensions of space such as spirit, form, structure, and texture.

We decided to add some adjustments to the client’s premises that would enhance spatial sequences capable of stimulating the uses. By manipulating the flexibility of interior expansion-segmentation without difficulties, we moved away from the result of a too geometrical functional schematism. The first incorporated the exterior – interior transition through the contained space by projecting the volumes of the second level, generating two eaves of reception and an extension of the interior space.

One Green Mile | MVRDV + studioPOD

One Green Mile is an urban space designed by the architectural firm MVRDV collaborating with the urban design firm studioPOD. StudioPOD initially solved the traffic and street profiles and helped to define the program and identify the target groups. Expanding upon this, MVRDV designed sinuous blue stripes to create a cohesive visual identity across all elements of the space, creating a concept for One Green Mile that offers a delightful and holistic urban spatial experience. A hilly paved landscape transforms the 2-dimensional visual features into a 3D spatial experience, accommodating various programs and providing a dynamic physical attraction.
