Project Description

[Text as submitted by the Architect] The architecture that composes the WALL HOUSE focuses on restructuring the concept of privacy, isolated from the entire geographic and urban background of its location.

Built of materials and constructive elements extracted from the brutalist style, the WALL HOUSE, however, receives refined finishings, in a velvet seeming visual perspective.

The volume device created by the composition of overlaid shapes (an extremely common  architectonic character in Brazilian modernism), is based on a central axis of an apparently intransigent concentre, that extends to the main facade’s box until the back of the house, creating a perspective that leads the corridors to the inner areas, ending on a balance over the recreation area.

In this structural axis there is only one opening, essential for the effective formalisation of the connection between the common areas of the ground floor, under the bedroom’s floor, the superior, that occurs through the upstairs, also built in concrete and installed on balance.

Wood appears smoothly on the main context, in order to, exclusively, support the environmental comfort and counterbalance the most brutalist elements by using the most refined finishings.

As an example of this harmonization is the possibility of highlighting the joint of the concrete to the bricks, metallic frames and lastly the selection of light tones to create the delicateness and balance between the concepts applied to the house.

This counterpoint is evidenced, mainly, at the common areas, globally integrated to the rupture between internal and external, valuing the thermodynamics of the WALL HOUSE and, as consequence, exempting the necessity of big windows facing the street, where the amplifying sensorial effect is remarkable. Basically, the constructive schedule and the solutions proposed by this architecture arise as the result of the implantation of a unique process of studying and elaborating the project’s focus: privacy.
