Fanos Katsaris

Fanos Katsaris is an Architect engineer, designer and researcher with a deep respect for materiality and attention to detail. He holds a professional Diploma in Architecture degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a post-professional MA Interaction Design degree from the prestigious Design Department of Goldsmiths, University of London.

He has an international architectural experience that spans worldwide and includes the design of mixed-use buildings, world-class cultural centres, luxury and high-end condos, commercial and education projects, as well as projects at masterplan scales. He also has a background in academia as a lecturer at the renowned Royal College of Art (RCA) and Goldsmiths, University of London, as well as exhibition installations at world-famous centres such as the V&A London and FRAC Centre, Orleans, France.

Fanos worked in offices in Greece, Cyprus and the UK with some of the top architecture practices in the world including 40.22 Architects, Greece and the renowned Heatherwick Studio, London holding the positions of Package Leader and Project Architect.

Throughout his career, Fanos has won several awards, architectural competitions and honours internationally and he is currently setting the foundations of his practice, FKAT.studio.

Practice Ideology

FKAT.studio, such as the notion of design itself, is an ever-lasting work in progress with research and problem-solving in its core. Focusing on any space, scale and type of architecture, the studio applies deep methodologies of bespoke design solutions, crafted through the extensive experience of the lead Architect and founder of the practice, Fanos Katsaris.

Here at the practice, the program is open for all client needs. It welcomes projects of residential, commercial or mixed-use building typologies, urban design and master planning scale projects, as well as design objects of everyday use, all treated with the same love and respect for the process of creation.

At the heart of the studio lies a passion for the study of deep materiality, tied alongside with the understanding of the client’s needs. Fanos’s background at world-renowned practices enabled him to apply a unique level of sensitivity to his designs that effortlessly combine affordability, buildability and sustainability. The studio’s design approach is vernacular and international. It operates on the notion that true ideation and inspiration are found when out-of-the-box thinking is applied and it encourages, not only its people, but also its collaborators to join in this journey of the conception of extraordinary designs. No design is repeated, and no solution is replicated, because at FKAT.studio it is truly recognized that every space and every client is special, and every project is new challenge and an opportunity to learn.
