A large mashrabiya – featuring windows with wooden trusses, an Iberian heritage typical of Brazilian architecture, draws your attention on Alameda Ministro Rocha Azevedo, near Avenida Paulista in São Paulo. It is a residential building designed in 1964 by the architects Alberto Botti and Marc Rubin, both partners at Botti & Rubin Associated Architects. The comprehensive approach by Bruno Rossi Arquitetos + Piratininga Arquitetos Associados enhanced the high quality of the original project. Their remodelling design valued the modern architecture and structural beauty of the building, based on its rigorous attention to detail, providing new openings for natural light and views, and better circulation.

The new offices are housed in a former transformer factory located in the Junction Triangle, a historic industrial area in the city’s west end that is undergoing a major transformation as a mixed-use neighbourhood.
Within this emerging creative precinct, Azure has situated itself in 5,600 square feet of space spread over two levels. The entry is demarcated by its distinctive logo, rendered in a bold orange super-graphic, visible through the reception glass on axis at the end of a long corridor leading to the office.

Identiti is a mid-size advertising and branding agency run by a father-sons trio who wished to consolidate their home and office in different parts of the city into a spacious live-work unit. By the time we were approached, a building had been purchased for this purpose on a relatively compact site. The existing structure was an archetype of a build-to-rent style prevalent throughout Kerala with low daylight and even lesser character. Cramped room sizes resulting from a half-baked interpretation of Vastu made matters worse.
