The principle that ruled the design conceptualization process was the need to provide the end users with all the utilitarian facets in the compact square footage available. The design approach could however not compromise on the openness of the floorplan & had to cater efficiently to the daily needs of the inhabitants.

The house has been designed to make the most of the view of the forest landscape. Due to the dimensions of the terrain – narrow in width and long in length_ we`ve chosen small patios. At the front access, a large exposed concrete marquee, which, more than a shelter for cars, serves as a covered square directly connected to the forest.

The initial idea is to allow habitant’s behavior to carve a dwelling space into a monolithic piece of marble sculpture. The main piece appears so solid, yet so light it floats to defy the gravity, while external landscape space flows underneath through the center courtyard

The design references its agrarian surroundings and is based on the concept of a dogtrot barn, two separate but connected forms. The long (160’ x 37’) rectangular residence is connected to a separate garage structure by a three-foot thick roof. There, a large central cutout lightens the mass, creates a focal point and causes a dynamic play of light upon the correspondingly scaled planter below it

This house is designed with that awareness as well, as a shade covered by a wall with holes (roster).

Two main goals have led the design process: [1] not touch the ground; [2] to create an outside platform where topography, with 50% of slope, has provided any flat piece of land. This volume was placed properly detached from the street, where the ground level was deep enough to accommodate two enclosed floors and an open space underneath.

The design solution takes on a residential structure from the second half of the 20th century and recycles it into a project that integrates with its immediate natural environment, shattering the hegemony of the high walls behind which the neighboring houses hide, in order to establish a dialogue that transcends the physical limitations of the project.

Since the beginning, the client collects ethnic wood material which he dreams to use it as architectural element of his building. therefore, it becomes element for one area of the façade of the building. Dialogue between Harmony and Contrary is the aim that the architect want to achieve for this office design. There is interesting dialectic between the old-fashioned and the contemporary in this design where the old-fashioned furnitures  were arranged inside interior design with contemporary impression.
