Ar. Guruprasad Rane
Ar. Guruprasad Rane hails from the state of Maharashtra and the city of Mumbai. He completed his architectural education at the L.S. Raheja School of Architecture in Mumbai in 2002. He moved to Kerala in 2003 to work with Ar. G. Shankar to pursue his interest in sustainable and eco-friendly architecture. In 2011, he co-founded Bhoomija Creations along with his wife, Ar. Manasi.
Ar. Guruprasad has been actively involved with Architecture Sans Frontiers International since 2011. He has served as an executive committee member for eight years and chaired the organisation in 2022–2023.
Ar. Manasi P
Manasi is an architect by heart and by profession. She hails from the village of Pallippuram in Palakkad district, Kerala. She did her B.Arch. from MES College of Engineering, Kuttippuram. Bhoomija Creations was co-founded by her in 2011 along with her husband, architect Guruprasad Rane. She believes that art and architecture are interwoven. ‘Bhoomija’, meaning that which is born of the ground, sprouted as an extension of their dream of creating nature-inclusive, people-friendly, and site-specific architecture. Bhoomija since then has had an array of works exploring the sustainable quotient in architectural practice.
Practice Ideology
Bhoomija’s practice attempts to explore the timeless potential of buildings. In addition to the look and feel of well-sited architecture, fostering indigenous building methods and nurturing local talent adds to the significance of the place, and brings a dimension of sustainability to the projects. Bhoomija’s creations are off earth, both literally and metaphorically. They are advocates of the idea that design sensibilities lie not only in using sustainable materials but using all materials sustainably.
