Jayesh Hariyani

Jayesh has served the building and design industry for over 30 years, specializing in architecture & planning combining city planning, urban design, architecture, interior architecture and mix used real estate development that is based on sustainability. He has worked in Europe, USA, UAE and Asia. He served as CMD for South Asia Region at Stantec. As a Founder and Chairman of INI (formerly Burt Hill -Stantec Consulting), he is instrumental in forming and delivering research-driven, large multi-use developments, that are driven by good planning, architecture, technology and sustainable principles. His work has won many recognized international and national awards including FAIA Honour from the American Institute of Architects. He has also held teaching positions at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Texas and has served as Director and Principal of Architecture and Planning School at Ganpat University and is Board of Advisory for Nirma Architecture and Planning Institute. He has presented in several national & international conferences.

Jayesh has a degree in Architecture from CEPT University, a second Master of Architecture II specializing in Urban Design & Planning from Syracuse University, New York, and an Executive MBA from Katz School of Business, USA. He has led regional planning & urban design projects totalling 75000+ acres in India. He has also led design of over 200+ Million sq ft of built environment projects across India and Internationally that includes many gold and platinum rated IGBC/LEED certified green projects. He is deeply engaged in transforming the design and construction practice and education of architecture, urban design, and planning to make them more relevant, effective and environmentally conscious. His sustainable design and planning philosophy seeks to create communities that are energy efficient and responsible. He strongly believes that through a high quality design we must provide better working and living environments that enrich our communities and contribute to healthy eco systems.

Jayesh is also Founding member & Executive Board Member of CII – IGBC & Founding member & CEO’s Advisory Committee Member of USGBC. He is currently chair of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Campus Rating and IGBC Green Hill Habitat and Co-Chair of IGBC Green City Rating and Net Zero Building Rating. He is also a founder of sustainable development company; AH Design & Infrastructure Ltd and Rural Education and Development Foundation which is known as READ Foundation.

Bindu Hariyani

Bindu is a senior executive with over 25 years of experience in architecture and business with a record of superior results in a variety of challenging and multicultural environments globally. She is an architect by education and serves as a Board Member of INI. She has earned a Bachelor in Architecture from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, a Masters in Information Systems from Robert Morris University of Pittsburgh, and an Executive MBA from the University of Pittsburgh USA.

Prior to joining INI, Bindu was a partner in Hariyanis Architects, Interior Design and Planning, a 30 person firm, then worked for 7 years in the U.S. in management, ranging from a financial institution, non-profit organization to the corporate promotional product design industry, where she served in various management roles, managing staff across offices in the U.S. Her work was primarily dedicated to business process management and analyzing practices and data to advise clients on business efficiency, productivity and minimizing sustainability. On returning to India, Bindu joined INI (formerly Burt Hill Stantec) as Operation’s Director in 2007.

Her diverse background in architecture, business management and technical aspects of business organizations has proved to be invaluable in the setting up of our initial design practice in India South Asia. Being a registered architect and having earned an Executive MBA from a globally-ranked program have proven to be invaluable in the operations of INI. Her background as both an architect and a business leader has brought to the firm invaluable, senior-level experience in executive decision-making, policy direction, strategic business planning, and financial and personnel management.

Bindu has an aptitude to create partnerships with those critical outside associates and consultants who support us – the accountants, vendors, bankers, landlords, contractors, IT consultants etc. who are critical to the smooth running of INI Practice. She has created a professional work environment that inspires respect and commands good service. Bindu is a founding member of Design & Infrastructure Ltd., a design and development firm, and the Rural Education and Development Foundation (READ), which is driven by her passion to extend education where it is highly needed.

Practice Ideology

INI stands for ideas that are driven by “n” number of I’s (InI) such as Inquiry, Imagination, Innovation, Inspiration, Integration, Inclusiveness and many more I’s.

Most importantly it stands for our core purpose which is delivering Integrated Ideas, referring to the integrated and collaborative nature of our practice and out of the box design ideas.

Our passion for sensitive design and desire to give back to our community drive our conscience and creativity. We observe, engage and learn.

INI Design Studio is a multi-disciplinary, independently owned Collaborative design practice. Our work encompasses planning, architecture, engineering and design-built services for many sectors that cut across the sustainable built environment. Our partners are all practicing professionals and technical experts working collaboratively and we do so in friendship.
