In 2016, Jjfortuny Arquitectes was founded in Palma, Mallorca (Balearic Islands), after winning first prize for the development of a master plan in the El Terreno district in the city of Palma. Then, in 2020, the studio won first prize for the development of 54 social housing projects in Inca, and later, in 2021, the six social housing projects in Puigpunyent. Finally, in 2022, they won the first prize for the rehabilitation of the Miró Foundation in Mallorca (UNESCO heritage). The Inca Social Housing project was completed in 2022 and has been awarded national and international awards.

The studio combines work on public competitions and private development, sustainable building research for the decarbonisation of architecture, and research in the field of urban space in Mediterranean cities.

Nowadays, Joan J. Fortuny has been combining his professional career and teaching the discipline of sustainable construction at the University of the Balearic Islands, and he has been invited by the University of Barcelona and the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia to develop workshops and conferences.

Together with Alventosa Morell Arquitectes, he is committed to designing buildings, spaces, and places that are attractive and innovative but, at the same time, socially, economically, and environmentally responsible.
