The medium of online learning presents a huge opportunity for everyone willing to acquire new skills and knowledge. ArchiDiaries supports this learning beyond universities and classrooms and thus is taking up the role of a facilitator. For the second time this year, we bring to you exciting online workshops from tutors across Design and Architecture universities, fields and experiences. AUTUMN 2020 Workshops are now open for registration.
In order to reach out to a large variety of people and as per feedback received from our previous workshops, in AUTUMN 2020 ArchiDiaries has launched evening classes with a more relaxed weekly schedule. This step has been taken to allow professionals and students to be able to participate post their daily working hours.
Currently there are three Workshops which have been launched. Participants can chose to attend whichever workshop they wish with Regular Registration, or they can avail discounted prices while registering for two or more workshops.
20.05-Grasshopper as a Tool
This is an introductory workshop to Rhino and Grasshopper.
This workshop aims to introduce participants to the world of computational design through Rhino and Grasshopper. Once the basics of Grasshopper (barebones) and Rhino are covered, few plugins like OpenNest, Kangaroo 2, and Ekl will be introduced. These plugins will increase the potential of what we can do with both the software.
These topic will be explained through scripts for facades, furniture, sculptures, and installations. Clearing basic concepts is the prime agenda of this workshop.
20.06-Grasshopper as Design Assistant
This workshop will take students from introductory to intermediate level of Rhino and Grasshopper.
As the name suggests, this workshop aims to introduce Grasshopper as a design assistant. The workshop starts by learning various plugins like Lunchbox, Weaverbird, Ladybug, Mouse, Wasp, Space – Syntax, and magnetic floor plan. These plugins help in generating algorithms and evaluating them.
In the second half of the workshop, participants will be working with Genetic algorithms using the plugin Octopus. Genetic algorithm is a technique for optimizing the solution to a given problem. At the end of the workshop the participants will take up some advanced optimization problems where they will build up various grasshopper clusters for getting the best solution very quickly.
20.07-Grasshopper as Design Driver
This workshop aims to introduce Grasshopper as a Design Driver, where as a Designer you can set up a larger logic and let grasshopper design for you.
This workshop will cover the full workflow for the same where the participant will start with the learning of python and then various other concepts of A.I. After which, they will create a script that uses A.I algorithms for automating various processes in design.
In the next stage, they will learn how they can take the design produced by Grasshopper to Revit using Rhino. Inside Revit participants will learn how to use Human UI to feed user inputs for getting the desired outcome.
